RVi was invited to participate in the Japan-Taiwan Innovation Summit 2026.

Aug 18, 2026 —

"Trusted AI infrastructure isn't something one company builds alone."

That's what our Co-Founder and CTO, Chih-Hsiang Ho, said on a panel at the 2026 Japan-Taiwan Innovation Summit.

The panel, "Building Trusted AI Infrastructure: Opportunities for Taiwan-Japan Collaboration," was part of the summit's "Bridging Day" track, held at the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry. We shared the stage with Tim Chen, CFO of GPU cloud provider GMI Cloud; Yushi Nagasaka, Senior Manager at materials giant Kyocera; and David Wacker, Technical Manager at optical systems startup KONST — four of us sitting at four different layers of AI infrastructure. Moderating was Edgar Chiu, Managing Partner at SparkLabs Taiwan.

We talked about how compute providers need data to arrive on time, materials companies need their specs validated downstream, and systems companies need optical components that can be mass-produced and serviced. Trust was never one layer's promise — it's whether delivery timelines, qualification, and redundancy design line up across the whole chain. Wherever one link falls out of alignment, trust breaks there.

We also shared where our VCSEL-based CPO work stands today — and why we believe this path gives the rest of the chain something easier to align around, on both energy and fiber-side cost.

The 2026 Japan-Taiwan Innovation Summit, organized by Startup Island TAIWAN, is now in its fifth year, drawing more than 500 participants from government, industry, and investment.

If trust in AI infrastructure comes down to every link in the chain staying aligned — which link do you think breaks first? Curious to hear your take.
